HPC system administration for clusters at the Missouri S&T and Mizzou campuses. Helping run the equipment to allow researchers and students access to computational resources for research and education

I resume my role as a student employee. I continue to support researchers and High Performance Computing. Maintaining my Ceph storage system while designing and deploying a new production Ceph storage system. I am also working on the next generation of cluster for the campus including updated OS, software, management, and monitoring systems. In addition to this I help with user training and support by showing researchers how to use our systems and install software that they need to run.I also work with other groups in our team on mechanical design, linux software development, server administration, instrumentation, and any other things that I am needed for.Along with this helped put on the Research Technology Development conference hosted by IT Research Support Services. This was a two day long conference hosted on the Missouri S&T Campus with over 500 attendees.

As a system administrator I help build and maintain the research computing infrastructure of the Missouri University of Science and Technology. This includes High Performance Computing (HPC) as well as desktop research computing. I also help maintain computers attached to instruments used for research.One of my tasks was building a proof of concept Ceph storage system that is now in user as an experimental scratch space for a small group of researchers.. It was provisioned by foreman, configured by puppet and run on random hardware that we had in storage.Another major task was decommissioning our old HPC cluster and migrating all of the users to the newer cluster. This included standing up new hardware, installing new software, and migrating user's old software to the newer system. This varied from modern simulation tools to fortran77 code that needed to be recompiled

Design and manufacturing of mechanical systems for a variety of projects such as a segway, Digital signage floor stand (static and foldable), and 9 Screen Display Wall. This includes waterjet cutting collaboration with multiple on campus shops. I collaborate in the designs and construction of these projects with multiple students and staff.I also help with the Better Campus Competition. This is a campus wide competition for designs and projects that improve the campus. I help coordinate and communicate with teams, assist teams with their projects through teaching necessary skills, design reviews and technical briefs and provide consultation as necessary.Troubleshoot and fix research computer systems as needed. Ranging from installing a printer, to installing a whole system, to setting up a data acquisition system for a physics research lab.Miscellaneous duties as needed.

General things as required by the shop or Rock Mechanics as whole. From sweeping the floor, machining parts, fixing water pumps for water jet cutters, labview coding, and IT work.If they need help with it I do it.
