Dr. Alex Hoffmaster is a seasoned fundraising leader who has spent his career serving organizational missions focused on access and opportunity. A Certified Fundraising Executive (CFRE), Alex is an accomplished frontline fundraiser, organizational strategist, and philanthropic counselor to nonprofit leadership and boards. Throughout his career, Alex has been known as the go-to resource for weaving organizational needs and donor interests into bespoke engagement and solicitation strategies that yield increased philanthropic support. Prior to Horizons National, Alex served as Director of Major and Principal Giving at United Way of Greater Philadelphia and Southern New Jersey where he was responsible for raising over $19M to support the organization's poverty-reduction efforts. Alex began his fundraising career in education serving the missions of Haverford College (PA), University of Maryland - College Park, and University of Delaware.After graduating from Gettysburg College, Alex went on to earn a graduate degree in education administration, certificates in nonprofit management and community engagement, and a Doctor of Education in organizational leadership. Alex lives in Center City Philadelphia and is a member of Leadership Philadelphia's 2021 Keepers Class and the 2023 New Orleans Cohort of the Greater Philadelphia Leadership Exchange.
