Received phone calls from our employees and assisted them with their point of sale issues. Day in and day out I would have to SSH and VNC into the store's main computer and register(s). Common issues that needed to be resolved were: installing printers, configuring receipt/ticket printer ports, updating SQL databases, unlocking cash drawers, and sending transactions from the register to the main computer when the database got corrupted. Others issues required me to walk the employee through a set of procedures to fix the particular issue at hand. Issues at times were difficult for the employee to understand because we used Fedora and not Windows. I was constantly translating "geek" language to end user language.Whenever a store's PC would crash on them; I would have to configure another one for them and mail that out. The configuration had to be specific to that store and the particular register being replaced. Once we receive their malfunctioning PC, repairs were performed so we could send it to another store in the future.
