While finishing my education, from 1998-2000; I worked at Mr. B’s Flowers, San Fernando Valleys largest florist. While working in the sales department, I developed sales skills, point of sale computer skills and worked with the general public. In 2000, I began training as a floral stylist, producing floral arrangements and bridal bouquets. I moved toward a specialty in event production and design. I blended my floral stylist skills and my sales skills and began working with families to plan life cycle events. I managed event production installation teams where the work was often extensive and needed to be accomplished in a short period of time. I expanded my people skills and developed organizational skills that allowed me to manage large scale events. The work is multi-faceted, as I would simultaneously manage an installation team of up to eight team members while acting as liaison to the hotel or country club staff, while also at the same time considering the client’s need and requests. This work developed my ability to multi-task. I used team building skills to provide direction and encouragement to the production crew.
