A former supervisor once explained to me, that change does not come overnight and it may not come in the near future. However, our job as Social Workers is to continue to plant seeds in our youth. We must provide learning opportunities, skills and tools. So, that they will potentially apply all that has been exposed to them. A child may not fully understand this type of maturity due to various internal and external circumstances, but it is our hope that as they mature they will remember what was taught. This is a constant reminder to remain patient and remember the bigger picture as I continue my passion developing children and youth. Every minor gain will eventually turn into a major gain!My goal is to pursue urban youth development in the realm of:- Academic Achievement- Life skills - Personal Development- Extracurricular Activities- College/Career DevelopmentDue to family dynamics and systematic barriers, some children do not receive these attainable skills that are pertinent upon completing high school. Students must be prepared for the professional world and unfortunately, many are catching up later in life. I am genuinely passionate about the relationships I build with each young person. All children deserve to have an advocate and a support system in their lives and that is what I consider myself.
