After 2 years as a Career Advisor, I was promoted to become the office's first Assistant Director.University Career Services offices generally have the unfortunate reputation of providing outdated advice. I took it as my mission to ensure our office broke free from that stereotype. ✨ Collaborated with colleagues to draft our first-ever student Career Development Handbook—a comprehensive resource that progresses with UF students through their years at UF—prompting them to take specific actions along the way to prepare for productive careers. I liaised with a third-party marketing agency throughout the process.✨ Brought Steve Dalton, author of The 2-Hour Job Search (and others since then), to campus to speak to our students and to train our office staff in the process and method.✨ Managed our $356,312 Career Ready Internship Grant that concluded in spring 2018. Throughout the program, 182 internships (6 more than initially proposed) were conducted by 135 unique students! My main focus in this position was guiding our College of Liberal Arts students to find internships and other experiential learning opportunities. I did this by assisting them with writing/editing their resumes and cover letters, as well as working with them to improve their professional skills ( interviewing, etc. ).✨ Launched our first-ever Professional Development Student Workshop Series.
