Qualified PWP and completed a 13 month secondment as PWP Team Lead for Purbeck and East Dorset in April 2024. Enjoying being part of a fantastic team within the NHS. I assess, provide provisional diagnosis and treat patients accessing Steps2Wellbeing. A challenging role which I find highly rewarding. Before embarking on my career change I managed a professional advice service within the Students’ Union at Bournemouth University. I was a member of SUBU Advice from August 2010, promoted from Advice Worker to Manager in Jan 2015-Sept 2019. Before joining SUBU I worked as an Adviser in AskBU within Bournemouth University for two years. Prior to this I taught A-Level and GCSE Health and Social Care Management. Experience in advising clients on a variety of issues including student finance, housing, debt and academic advice and representation. Attained NVQ Level 4 in Information Advice and Guidance in 2014 and elected as SUBU Staff Trustee 2015-2017. I’m flexible and adaptable and calm in a crisis, taking the lead where required and see things through to the end. I enjoy supporting and encouraging others within a positive atmosphere where individuals feel valued and respected. I focused on providing a high quality, holistic, individualised level of advice, guidance and support and to empower individuals to reach their full potential. I’ve lead a team of 4 permanent staff and 3 student staff. Ensuring they have the skills, confidence and knowledge to provide an exceptional service to students. I listened to their needs, we shared our successes and had a positive team atmosphere. My team were empowered to make informed decisions and manage their own workload. I looked broadly at the service provision and set our action plans for the forthcoming year, ensuring it was inline with the wider SUBU agenda. Conversant with both academic and student policies and procedures and reviewing them on a regular basis, providing feedback to improve processes and procedures for all students. I worked collaboratively with BU staff to deliver events such as National Student Money Week. I was the staff lead for the planning and delivery of the annual SUBU Housing Fair, working with elected officers to meet student needs. I retained the Advice Quality Standard for the service, ensuring the highest level of compliance to date.I also am volunteer as a Puppy Raiser for Guide Dogs, and walker for the Cinnamon Trust.
