I am a Moorpark College Nursing student with the expected graduation date of May 2020. During My time at Moorpark College I was accepted to the Dean's List and the Phi Theta Kappa Honor's Society. I have also completed courses at California State University, Channel Islands to supplement my education. I am concurrently enrolled in California State University, Dominguez Hills' Pre-BSN program, which allows me to take BSN courses while still completing my Associate's Degree in Nursing. I expect to have my Bachelor's Degree in Nursing completed by the end of 2021. My passion for nursing began with my mom, who is a registered nurse working on an oncology unit. Growing up, she would tell stories of her hardest days and happiest moments as a nurse. I began to yearn for that same fulfillment of wanting to make a difference in someone else's life, to ease someone else's pain and suffering and be their advocate. Once i made the conscious decision to follow my mom's footsteps and chase my dream of becoming a nurse, I started my journey by volunteering at Our Community House of Hope (OCHH). OCHH is a non-profit organization that was designed for affordable hospice and respite care for people in need. I spent seven months at OCHH while completing my prerequisites for the nursing program and thoroughly enjoyed every moment of it. Going into OCHH I had to mentally prepare myself that many of the residents were their for end-of-life care and my role was to make a difference in their final days by providing them with care and comfort.
