In this position, I was placed with the Health, Safety, and Environment team to cover vacation leave by conducting work environment sampling, and ensuring the maintenance of and recalibration of air safety monitors, conducting chemical cabinet and eye wash station checks, and respirator fit-testing. I was also entrusted to do the sampling and data interpretation for a project to improve the comfort level of employees during the summer months. During the end of my employment period, I was moved to the nurse’s station to book medical appointments and pull files, and designed mock-ups for equipment cleaning boards and pamphlets. In 2023 my duties were expanded to include guiding a research team around the operation, collecting information for the summer student feedback survey, heat stress sampling, and chemical inventories.
