I am New Yorker who has been living in Brazil since 2002. I am the Director of Britanic Empreendimentos Ltda., a group of five language schools located in the northeast of Brazil. I oversee both the administrative and pedagogical running of the school which offers English classes to children and adults of all levels. I am responsible for hiring, firing, training, curriculum development, coordinating events and parties as well as zillion other things that involve the day to day running of a business with over fifty employees and over a thousand students. Although the administrative side of my job takes up a good part of my time, my true passion is people and developing relationships which is probably what attracted me to education. Before becoming director in 2009 I was a Coordinator and EFL/ESL teacher for many years. I have been a Cambridge examiner for over ten years and have experience preparing students for international proficiency exams. Outside my job as a language school director, I am very involved in the university where I am pursuing a degree in clinical psychology. I am both a Teacher´s Assistant in Anatomy and Physiology and class president/representative to the school administration, a role I enjoy tremendously and am very engaged in. Allthough I have no immediate plans vacate the director's chair, after nearly fifteen years in the same position I am committed to finding new avenues to apply my uniquely vast skill set and have recently reduced my workload as director so that I can invest more time in pursuing new challenges.
