COSMIC is intended to support incoming freshmen with their transition to college by matching them with upperclassmen mentors who come from similar backgrounds and share similar interests. Each mentor will help his or her mentees navigate college life by regularly checking in, setting goals, answering questions and providing support.

The Diversity Summer Internship Program (DSIP) at the Bloomberg School of Public Health is a 10-week summer program that provides undergraduates with a graduate-level, independent research project in the biomedical or public health field. Interns will be required to work on a research project with their assigned mentors, complete weekly assignments along with a research paper, deliver a formal oral presentation, and participate in a culminating poster session. In addition, interns attend a GRE course, and public health and professional development seminars each week.Research focused on the transdifferentiation of fibroblasts into neurons in the Department of Environmental Health and Engineering under the mentorship of Dr. Bressler.

RAPPERS is a medical internship designed to introduce undergraduate students to research in the field of medicine and gain clinical experience. We work with a trauma surgeon from Greenville Health System to do research and shadow in the trauma bay. Additionally, there are bi-weekly meetings at the University of South Carolina Greenville School of Medicine to work with the surgeon and medical students to perform research and learn more about the field of medicine. • Trauma research in the Department of Surgery at Greenville Memorial Hospital under Dr. John David Cull, MD.• Shadowing attending surgeons and residents in Trauma Bay at GMH, twice a month 12 hour shifts• Evaluate patient data and assist in three research projects using RedCap, EPIC, and Citrix
