As an undergraduate researcher in Dr. Holland’s Lab I was able to perform and acquire a series of skills through the study of the impact of triclosan on downstream regulatory element antagonistic modulator (DREAM) mediated transcription in musculus hypothalamic GT1-7 cells. From this study I was able to gain technical research skills, data collection skills, critical thinking skills as well as communication skills. Overall I was able to understand the negative implications that pollutants, such as triclosan, can have by altering gene transcription.
