About Alexis Snyder

As an Engagement Specialist with a focus on patient centered care and community engagement, I advise threw consultation and workshops, on best practice and strategies for authentic engagement. I plan, lead and facilitate advisory meetings and focus groups to assure the patient and family voice, as well as the greater community and the underserved, is always present and well represented. Additionally I provide perspectives of patients and families to planning/development and implementation and evaluation of policies, programs and research that affect the care and services delivered to patients and families, especially those with medical complexity. As a parent and caregiver of an young adult with complex medical needs and rare disease, I have a unique perspective on healthcare delivery and the systems of care available to children, teens and young adults with medical complexity. I enjoy writing, editing, peer review, speaking, and moderating conversations and dialogs related to health care and/or research. In previous employment I have worked in a variety of health and human service related industries including day programs, community residences, long term care facilities and a transitional care unit within a hospital setting. I have worked with diverse populations of people including children, geriatrics and intellectually disabled adolescents and adults. I have been an activity/recreation director, hospital ethics committee member, patient quality and safety committee member and served as a patient rights officer.

HITAC unifies the roles of, and replaces, the Health Information Technology Policy Committee and the Health Information Technology Standards Committee, as in existence before the date of the enactment of the 21st Century Cures Act.
