About Alexis Wade
I am a full-time Senior Industrial Engineer for Wisk Aero. I graduated with my master’s degree from ASU in Industrial Engineering in May 2021. I have a Green Belt in Lean/Six Sigma and my passions include simulation, statistics, and lean manufacturing.I have five previous internships with Raytheon Technologies in the Manufacturing/Industrial Engineer role. In these internships, I have led process improvement projects (capacity analyses, value stream maps (VSMs), CAD layouts) and managed multiple product lines (developing/maintaining work instructions (WKI), creating/interpreting simulations, etc.). My master’s thesis utilized machine learning techniques in Python to create models that predicted the likelihood of freshmen student retention. I was awarded third place at the 2020 IISE Western Regional Conference's technical paper competition for my research. In 2021, I supported Northrop Grumman as a Plant Simulation SME and aided in the development of a simulation platform - making manufacturing simulation accessible to IEs of all backgrounds. Among my interests are understanding lean design and manufacturing, statistical machine learning, and developing a balance between social and technical skills. In my free time, I volunteer at Lost Our Home animal shelter in Tempe, AZ, and with Keep Nature Wild to keep the Arizona wild clean.
Listed skills include Leadership, Six Sigma, Union Relations, R, and 31 others.

Senior Industrial Engineer
Pharmacy Process Engineer
- Lead Process Engineer for Core Product Line, monitoring and directing eight sites across the United States. - Responsible for year-round strategic and financial planning, reporting on weekly and monthly calls with senior leadership and regularly engaging in continuous improvement activities. - Process mapped the complete production pipeline for Core Product Line & became a process SME in less than 6 months.- Developed/implemented standard work for the network, saving upwards of $300,000 annually. - Became a Kaizen master; led a site-wide Kaizens resulting in a 20% reduction in repair.- Developed key critical inputs, putting the network on track to achieve annual cost and cycle time goals.- Served as a Project Manager for multiple cross-functional initiatives, involving both technical and operational expertise.
Industrial Engineer
- Developed a standard simulation template for new users to quickly create Discrete Event Simulations (DES). - Served as a Plant Simulation Subject Matter Expert (SME) in the Digital Transformation Office (DTO) to incorporate manufacturing simulation into the cross-organizational digital toolkit. - Simulated both development and production environments for various programs, providing both feedback on risks and a path forward that reduced cycle time by more than 20% and manpower by 30%.- Designed, mapped, and implemented Thermal Protection System (TPS) and integration processes for a developing program, proposing changes that resulted in significant program savings.- Implemented an automated cable braiding machine on the production floor, which involved successfully encouraging automation in a stubborn environment and resulted in significant weight/time savings.- Created a capacity tool in Excel to monitor technician/tool utilization, actively incorporated it in the simulation validation process, and published its capabilities in the Northrop Grumman IE Community of Practice (CoP).
Hybrid Manufacturing And Industrial Engineering Intern
• Designed a simulation for a developing program in Process Simulator for ~26 builds to identify bottlenecks, improve flow, and detect potential threats to program success.• Utilized 7S methodology and Microstation to complete a re-layout of an engineering lab preceding the introduction of several new programs to the area; these changes resulted in improved flow and reduced touch time. • Developed and maintained from-scratch work instructions (WI) for an upcoming program, involving frequent and close contact with operators and the ability to interpret engineering designs.• Built hardware for several product lines, gaining a greater understanding of the transition from design to manufacturing, how products work, and the importance of the operator’s role.• Generated Lean continuous improvement projects and Kaizen events to address waste on the factory floor, resulting in reduced cost and increased capacity (line balancing, layouts, capacity analysis). • Created value stream maps (VSMs) for the operations performed on a cryogenics factory floor.• Performed a wall-to-wall ergonomic assessment of a factory floor, reviewing hundreds of operation numbers and identifying tens of high-risk operations.• Standardized a process for operating software and hardware in an Immersive Design Center.• Worked with the Affordability Team to identify potential Cost Reduction Opportunities (CROs), establish obtainable goals for overall cost minimization, and analyze strategies for decreasing the volume of Bill of Material (BOM) changes.• Performed a time study of the gowning/de-gowning process for a cleanroom to exhibit the prospective cost savings a floor plan change could generate.
Graduate Student Researcher
Worked part-time during the semester to assist the Fulton School of Engineering (FSE) in improving retention rates among first-time freshmen. In this role, I used both statistical and machine learning methods (Logistic Regression, Random Forest, Naive Bayes, Adaboost, etc.) to create models that positively identified factors affecting a student's decision to remain enrolled in FSE. We achieved 60-70% accuracy in correctly predicting students who will not return. This position made me proficient with Excel (VLOOKUP, etc.), JMP, Python, and R.
