    Human Gross Anatomy Ana407
Gross Anatomy is an intense, 8 week course offered at the University at Buffalo for students in the Exercise Science program. I took this course in May 2015, before entering my junior year and I absolutely loved the course. My love for anatomy grew even stronger, as every aspect of it was literally at my fingertips. As a TA, we were responsible for over 120 different students, preparing them for the lab practical exams. My fellow TAs and I would work very hard every single morning in student prossection, ensuring that they knew every muscle, muscle origin, muscle insertion, muscle function, nerve innervation, and blood supply. Our role as teaching assistants was to motivate all students by aiding in improving their knowledge in human anatomy; having the skills to identify anatomical structures in real life. This experience has become one that I will never forget. Being stuck with the same 100+ people for 8 weeks during the summer really forces you to step outside your typical element. Especially as a TA, I discovered things about myself and my teaching skills that my amazing students helped give light to. The TAs I worked with and the students I taught will be friends of mine forever.

    Comparative Primate Anatomy
Comparative Primate Anatomy is an anthropology course that I actually took in Spring 2015. I fell in love with Dr. Sirianni and her ability to use humor to keep us engage in the material. However, the material in itself is extremely interesting! We studied and dissected Macaque monkeys in hopes to understand the functional anatomical differences between humans and primates. As a TA, I attended lab once a week to perform a prossection where the other TAs and I would teach the students how and what to dissect for that week's lab. We were also responsible for assisting them during their own dissections and answering any questions that they might have. In addition, each TA was responsible for creating a "special" dissection where we would dissect deeper anatomical structures in order to give a better view of the muscle and its attachments. All in all, this experience was more than gratifying. Teaching is definitely one of my strong suits and having the opportunity to actually do it is something I will always cherish.
