•The objective of the project was to determine intersecting interests between Google, the United States, and the European Union with respect to digital sovereignty in order to determine appropriate policy recommendations for Google.•Completed a 25 page document consisting of 3 parts. Part 1 is a historical background of digital sovereignty and transatlantic relations. Part 2 outlines the three primary areas of concern surrounding digital sovereignty within the EU which are technological innovation and competition, data privacy and protection, and cybersecurity. Part 3 proposes four policy recommendations which Google can adopt in order to adapt to changing transatlantic relations.•Interviewed 8 stakeholders within the United States and the European Union to help solidify the policy recommendations.
