My name is Alexis Farrior and I am an Occupational Therapy student at Winston-Salem State University. I have always had a passion for working with people and thought it would be great to turn my passion into a career. Growing up in Raleigh, NC, I have had opportunities to display my passion through being a part of the Sports Medicine Team or caring for children during my free time. Being able to help people both physically and mentally was a big request of mine when researching career paths, and that is what Therapeutic Recreation and Occupational Therapy both do for people within the community. My recent experiences have given me an increased interest in working within geriatrics to aid in the navigation of an ever-changing world for those who have been here a little longer. Through my healthcare experiences, I have gained communication, technological and leadership skills whether it was from updating information through Microsoft Excel to organize patient’s resources or leading a youth group session to learn about ways to Self-Advocate if you have a disability. Those skills used within the community serve as a contribution to the elevation of well-being for those in need. I hope my enthusiasm and passion for people can be expressed within your company!
