Selected projects include: The Gifts They Bring (Institute for Justice and Opportunity, John Jay College of Criminal Justice), Qualitative Ethics (Society for Qualitative Inquiry in Psychology), and From Targets to Agents (The Graduate Center) Qualitative Ethics: o Oversaw diverse, national team of 13 psychologists to develop visionary approach to ethics in psychological research taking into consideration advancements made by ethnic minority associations, community-based and social justice perspectives. o Developed collaborative process to present our work innovatively at the 2018 American Psychological Association conference and served as editor for special issue of Qualitative Psychology. Developed recommendations for ethical guidelines in qualitative research. The Gifts They Bring: o Recruited, developed, and trained team of 11 student co-researchers for Participatory Action Research (PAR) project addressing race, education, and mass incarceration. o Collaboratively developed research questions based on advisory board recommendations. Facilitated focus groups, analysed qualitative data, presented findings and wrote policy paper on challenges faced by students going to college after prison. Paper used in campaigns to advocate for increased access to higher education. From Targets to Agents: o Conducted research project addressing women’s vulnerability to and resistance against sexual and other violent assault, using participant observation, individual interviews, and qualitative analysis. Lectured at national conferences, published in scholarly journals, and created dance film to disseminate findings.
