Physics and Astronomy SEA Change is an equity focused program for postsecondary physics and astronomy departments

Working across the AIP Federation on two projects: the Physics and Astronomy STEMM Equity Achievement (SEA) Change pilot, which supports departments in self-study to improve DEI practices and policies, and the Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion (DEI) Collective Impact project, to ensure the Member and Affiliate Societies are best serving physics and astronomy departments in the AIP Federation.

External evaluation on postsecondary STEM education (primarily physics education) endeavors.

Created and run Shadia of Boston's Facebook page for her costume designs. Work includes engaging audience with photos and relevant information. Also developing "Behind the Costume" stories consisting of personal customer stories regarding the costumes designed for them.

Worked on multiple STEM/physics education research projectsProjects include: social network analysis regarding education/teaching among higher education faculty, the diffusion of innovation: a case study of North Carolina State's SCALE-UP; and an ongoing evaluation project of teaching practices, beliefs, and networks at two other institutions.

Supported the duties of the Director of STEM Education.Assisted in the development of the Boston University STEM Education website. Collaborating with the communications specialist and a videographer to produce informative videos that highlight innovative and effective STEM practices around the university.Cultivated a teaching exchange network, where professors and staff gather to share and develop novel STEM education practices.Supported research on STEM education conducted by the Director of STEM Education. Work includes data analysis and writing reports.

Instructor for a science pre-practicum class for undergraduates considering teaching as a career.Design syllabus, select readings, grade work, and lead class.

Teaching assistant for a Learning Assistant (LA) pedagogy class, where students are assistants for undergraduate introductory science classes they had previously taken. Graded student work, facilitated student discussions, provide advice and support for students on their teaching matters.Teaching assistant for a science pre-practicum for science MAT students. Developed a website to streamline the LA application process, as well as provide information on the LA program at Boston University to a general audience. Produced short videos of the LAs describing various facets of the program.

Supervised STEM graduate students and partner teachers in a program to enhance high school science classrooms.Assisted PI in hiring graduate students and teachers. Trained graduate students in STEM pedagogy with an emphasis on urban education. Led week-long training for graduate student-teacher pairs to develop strong teams. Advised two experienced graduate students in creating their own professional development modules for training.Gave feedback on teaching and other support. Organized meetings to create community among teacher-students pairs. Provided additional readings throughout the year to further educate the graduate students on STEM education.Assisted external evaluator in developing and administering surveys that determined the program's effects on graduate student career outcomes and beliefs on STEM teaching.Performed misc. administrative duties (website maintenance, organizing hiring paperwork, NSF evaluations) as needed.

Provided administrative support for an inquiry-based science program for K-8 teachers in the Boston-area. Organized meetings for faculty and teachers, placed orders for supplies, filed an end of the year grant report.

Teaching undergraduate physics labs and was lab manager assistant, where I advised other teaching assistants, provided feedback and training, and helped maintain lab policies and procedures.Conducted experimental fluid mechanics research on diffusion and Brownian motion.
