In my working and private lives, I seek out opportunities to unite the arts and well-being. This has helped me discover how to assist those struggling with complex life issues such as health, aging, and end-of-life issues. At LSU Medical School, I served as Education & Fellowship Coordinator to the Cardiology Fellowship Training Program. I was Certified Clinical Research Coordinator for 12 clinical research studies (mostly hypertension) & assisted in creating/executing CME programs including: Cardiology Board Review, Cardiology for the Primary Care Physician, & Internal Medicine Board Review. I coordinated/disseminated complex monthly on-call, Grand Rounds & Journal Club schedules. Please see the letter of recommendation by Gary E. Sander, M.D., Ph.D. listing my work and his impression of my skills. I've provided administrative/clerical support to legal & academic medical offices, performing arts & retail businesses, and sold & repaired violins/violas. I've taught adults & children private music lessons and classroom music, art, French & drama to children. While in post-bacc. school, I volunteered at JPS Hospital's Level One Trauma Unit and was involved with JPS for over a decade. Volunteering led me to chaplaincy where I earned a unit of Clinical Pastoral Education, serving as on-call Chaplain at John Peter Smith & Texas Health Huguley Hospitals in Fort Worth. This provided insight that I incorporate into my life & work as my favorite area of focus is the balance of creative, emotional, spiritual, & physical well-being in lives. I served as a hospice chaplain for a Texas company after training and learned much about the grief process, which learning continues currently. I am a committed helper.Interests: Supporting those in need, especially those suffering chronic illness or who are in hospice; Using music as a means of regulating life-rhythm; Interaction/spirituality; start-ups; writing, especially as therapy, editing; music & art; critical thinking; leadership/initiative; strong manual dexterity/typing, mechanical, spatial skills; deductive/inductive reasoning skills; public speaking & performing; medical tech & caregiving skills; strong background in medical patient skills and troubleshooting medical organizations and their attitudes and relationships with patients. Chaplain, P.R.N.Encompass Home Health And Hospice Aug 2013 - May 2014Fort Worth, TxIn early September 2013, Texas Hospice was purchased by Encompass Home Health & Hospice, just ten days after I was hired by Texas Hospice. This cataclysmic upset introduced many changes in approach and requirements. I am grateful for the honor of being included in my patients' lives and passings. My goal was to provide the highest quality care to my patients and their families. To the best of my ability, and in accordance with my training, input from my mentor and program director, and in harmony with my conscience, understanding, and faith, I worked to provide compassionate, loving care, and to listen without judgment. It was a privilege to serve as their chaplain, attending to their spiritual and emotional needs during the passage through which each patient/family was traveling their unique road. My duties included extensive travel throughout DFW, spiritual assessment, pastoral care visits to provide spiritual and emotional support to patients, families and staff, required entry of visit data into an electronic tablet device, participating in bi-weekly Interdisciplinary Group meetings, and extensive on-call duties, and serving as a presence or speaker at the funeral of some patients. I served as the sole on-call chaplain from September through January, covering for a fellow chaplain for five months. This was done in the context of my regular daily duties. -
