Developed firmware running on hundreds of traffic safety signs across the UK and Australia using PIC microcontrollers, Telit 4G LTE modules for IoT network communications and AGD radar solutions which are used to collect traffic data.I maintain the company Android applications which are used by field engineers for commissioning signs as well as the web service and servers that Solagen use to offer customers IoT data insights for their safety signs.Also maintain and develop the company CMS / sign management portal which is a 15+ year old PHP behemoth, I've slowly been saving it from the clutches of maintainability by migrating it to Docker (to have a reproducible recipe on it's setup), providing backups of the DB and email-alert systems when something needs attention.

After OneTrust acquired the team & technology of AppSecTest in March 2022, it was our job to integrate our technology as a SaaS in their environment; a secondary goal of this project was to spear-head the OneTrust's offerings to provide an AWS-style cloud service model. Prior to leaving the company I outlined a rough technical design of how this might work across the different services offered by the company.Integration of the AppSecTest technology at OneTrust required learning their software ecosystem (Java Spring, Kafka, Azure & wrapper libraries for each of these) during the first 3-4 (while we were still integrating!).Before leaving I was able to provide immediate value to the product by developing a system to translate the results from our static analysis engine to a 'Google Play Safety' document that users could submit.

At AppSecTest I was one of two developers in a 5-man startup that produced a product to disassemble & analyse Android apps for security, legal and privacy compliance issues. We successfully made an exit in 2022, selling the team & technology to OneTrust.Working in such a small team on such tight deadlines with next-to-no budget really trained my discipline in the (cost & produced) value of my work, the importance of transparent communication and how to manage unreasonable deadlines.While at the company my responsibilities were to co-develop the static analysis engine (the core technology). One of the most valuable contributions I made to the engine was adding the network I/O layer that allowed for cloud & on-premise deployments, this later was a main selling point of the product.I also developed & maintained all frontend and backend servers/services which manipulated, aggregated & presented the data our product collected. This was what the company used to pitch the product for our successful exit. I stepped up to this role after the team struggled to get resource for a full stack/web developer in the team.I was also able to graduate with a First-Class Honours during my time at the company.

My internship at Intel as a Technical Sales Specialist for the Internet of Things (IoT) team was a really great experience for me. It gave me an opportunity to learn IoT full-stack development (from board to cloud); become a specialist in the LoRa(WAN) technology which I led a project on - this later went on to form my dissertation; I was also gained a lot of soft-skills, which have become invaluable to me today, training the intern taking over my role for two months, was particularly rewarding; presenting IoT demos to educate groups of school children and demonstrate our prototypes to academic groups gave me some much needed confidence; finally, being thrown in the deep end by being given sole responsibility for the front-door IoT RFID demo at Intel's 2017 HPE Discover (London) booth was an experience that turned out very well.
