I am a dynamic, award-winning corporate attorney and businessman with over a decade of experience in contract law and complex business transactions. I also advise clients on a wide range of litigation matters and disputes focusing primarily on business and corporate law as well as commercial litigation. Prior to joining Howard & Howard, I served as General Counsel and Chief Operating Officer for a Michigan-based cannabis company founded in 2019. While there, I was hands-on with the daily business matters in addition to large-scale projects. I was responsible for the formation and governance of over 10 entities across multiple states, obtained and maintained licenses across three different states, drafted and negotiated acquisition of retail and cultivation facilities in multiple jurisdictions, and more. Additionally, I helped grow the business from four employees to over 200, developed key business roles and expectations, and collaborated with the CFO to reduce bottom line expenses. I have been recognized for my work in the legal and business world by Crain’s Detroit in their 2019 "40 Under 40" issue, Michigan Lawyers Weekly "Up & Coming" Class of 2018, Super Lawyers Rising Star, and more. I have a unique perspective with roles in both the legal space and business side and have a thorough understanding of the challenges clients face every day. I received my B.A., cum laude, from Kalamazoo College and J.D., cum laude, from University of Detroit Mercy School of Law, where I was President of the Student Bar Association and a member of the Law Review. I am licensed to practice in the States of Michigan and Illinois. I serve my community by, among other things, volunteering for the Pat Tillman Foundation.
