About Alex Look
I am currently a PhD student researcher in Infection and Immunity at the University of Southampton.Currently, I am investigating utilising different human iNKT cell subsets for cancer immunotherapy. My expertise includes project design and management, data analysis, data presentation and interpretation of raw data. Key practical aspects of my work include bacterial and mammalian cell culture, protein expression and purification, tetramer generation, flow cytometry, cytotoxicity assays, PCR, scRNA seq, transfection, and transduction. As well as several other functional assays to characterise the differing functional responses of iNKT cell subsets. In addition, I have experience in analysing and interpreting scRNA sequencing data. I am a highly ambitious, motivated and driven individual who is resourceful and maintains a positive, proactive attitude when faced with adversity. I was part of the Immunology network within the Immunology Research Unit at GSK R&D site in Stevenage.- Optimised and generated monoclonal knock-out cell lines using CRISPR CAS9 genome editing for use in functional studies that were critical to the pipeline. This saved £100,000 and up to 6 months in time, consequently.
