Hobart Brewers is a local Home Brewing club based in Hobart, Tasmania. We are passionate about all things beer and meet once a month. We feature a variety of industry experts, brewers and members as well as run local competitions and the state competition. Ultimately we want all our members to learn so that we can all brew better beer!Some of my duties within the organisation included Planning and organising club tours and events, for example presentations from suppliers and industry professionals;Coordinating group projects (currently group barrel ageing);Providing technical brewing related advice to other club members during monthly meetings, and via email;Liaising with local suppliers to secure group purchasing opportunities;Producing and distributing the club’s quarterly newsletter, including researching and writing brewing related articles; andCritically evaluating the appearance, composition and taste of a variety of different beer styles as a competition judge for home brew competitions around the state.

Principal accountabilities:• Participate in the development and submission of tenders;• Key steward in relationship between regulatory authorities and project client; • Providing effective overall management of projects;• Coordinate project start up including the preparation of OHS and environmental plans, provision of project budget and ongoing cost tracking;• Analyse safety and environmental requirements of the jobsites and projects to ensure that effective controls are put in place to minimise risk;• Ensure that adequate induction and training is provided to enable all personnel to carry our their duties safely, effectively and efficiently;• Liaise with onsite teams on the attainment of programs, costs, variations and overall company objectives;• Ensure that the progress of the project is accurately recorded, a monthly report issued to the Divisional Manager and/or senior management where necessary and that site minutes are minuted; and• Facilitate the implementation of company policies, practices and procedures.

Some responsibilities:• Environmentally dangerous substance identification and risk management;• Environmental legal responsibility identification and compliance;• Risk Identification and problem solving;• Investigating and reporting on environmental incidents;• Report writing to senior levels of management and external regulators;• Formalizing consents and permits for the transport of waste and byproducts interstate and locally;• Management of contractors for the implementation of environmental initiatives; and• Liaison with internal and external stakeholders as a representative of both the environmental department as well as a representative of the company.

Some responsibilities:• Environmental monitoring on and offsite air, water, groundwater and soil sampling;• Managing vegetation onsite through creating and implementing a vegetation management plan;• Updating and implementing an site spill strategy;• Data Collation and interpretation for site environmental and occupational hygiene issues that arise;• Report writing for internal senior management and external regulatory bodies;• Project conception and implementation; and• Creating SOPs for environmental actions.

As a contractor providing field monitoring services to the Derwent Estuary Program some of my responsibilities included:Performing environmental monitoring of Derwent River tributaries; Managing sample collection and distribution on a quarterly basis;Liaising with local council and stakeholders; andEnsuring scientific processes and integrity of samples are maintained.
