Project engineer designing and manufacturing custom laboratory and pilot scale flow chemistry equipment for various industries and research institutes, including pharmaceutical businesses and universities. Responsible for multiple projects (£10,000 - £250,000+, 1-12 months) from initial customer interaction and project inception to site installation and support.

Worked within a project team bringing a business class airline seat from the final prototype development stages to the delivery of the first batches of seats. Work completed includes: - Designed and managed a searchable permit tracker for the project (permits are produced when the finished product deviates from the approved design). This tracker allowed the state of each permit and the seats which it applies to, to be easily determined. This tracker was used as evidence by Boeing of improvements to Zodiac’s processes for the FAA and as a template for other projects. - Responsible for the redesign, prototyping and manufacturing instructions to correct a malfunctioning component during a final customer review. As the rest of the engineering team were in meetings with the customer, I was trusted to independently complete the entire development process from the identification of the problem to the acceptance of the redesign by the customer. The 2 stages of prototyping and testing were completed within a few days demonstrating my ability to work to a high quality with tight deadlines.- Practical experience assembling prototype seats and components.- Redesigned cabling and brackets for cable harness to increase seat reliability. - Implemented design changes by modifying CAD models and drawings.- Responsible for overseeing and documenting the cyclic testing of the seats including suggesting and implemented design changes to solve problems which arose.

10 week work placement within the R &D department of Babcock Defence Systems Technology. Worked on multiple projects on surface ships and submarines, including the development of weapons handling and safety equipment.

6 week work placement in the Assembly and Testing office. Gained experience on the assembly factory floor as well as helping with an experiment to determine an ideal replacement for an air motor within a tool.

The F1 in schools is an international competition open to all students aged 14-18. Students compete in teams of 4-6. They design and build small model cars using 3D modelling software and CAM processes within a strict set of regulations and rules. These cars powered by a small gas canister which slots into the back of them and they are drag raced against each other. Each team also has to produce a portfolio detailing everything they had done; an pit booth (information) display and a presentation.I was the design engineer for my team, designing the car in Autodesk Inventor, testing it in a CFD program, before helping to manufacture the car and test it on the track and in a wind tunnel. I then used the results of the tests to improve upon the design of the car, in total four iterations of the design were produced. I also designed and manufactured merchandise and display items for the pit display.My team progressed through the regional finals winning the award for best team identity and raced at the national finals where we finished 8th in the country.

A 5 week Nuffield scholarship placement working with Dr Aldo Rona and another student in a closed circuit wind tunnel to determine the velocity distribution over the windward surface of a cylinder using constant temperature hot-wire anemometry. A report was produced by myself and the other student on the work performed during the placement and the results that we found.
