Based in Hong Kong, I am a seasoned creative director, designer, and photographer with a passion for innovative storytelling. I founded Adam Studios in 2018 after serving as the first Global Creative Director for Hypebeast.com at the age of 25.Originally from Seoul, South Korea, and raised in Atlanta, I bring a holistic, strategy-driven approach to my creative and marketing projects. My journey began in 2008 as an early member of Wish Atlanta, where I helped transform the brand from a single store into a digital-first retailer and brand. This experience paved the way for my move to Hong Kong in 2011, where I joined Hypebeast.com as Social Media Manager and Features Editor. At Hypebeast, I led the creation and management of all social media channels and was instrumental in launching Hypebeast Agency/Studio, Hypebeast Magazine, and HBX.com, while covering all creative and features output across all brand channels. In 2015, I co-founded MAEKAN.com with Eugene Kan, focusing on audio-led storytelling in art, music, fashion, and culture. This platform highlights our creative capabilities, showcasing influential figures and brands such as Daniel Arsham, Nike, visvim, Arc'teryx, sweetgreen, Apple, and more.At Adam Studios, our studio practice offers a range of creative services, including marketing strategy, content direction, and social media management, with operations in Hong Kong, San Francisco, and Seoul. As the inaugural Director of Brand Creative APAC for lululemon, I established the creative function and led regional campaigns, ensuring alignment with global brand initiatives. As the first holder of the Director title for the department, I was responsible for establishing the Creative function, setting up the team, designing the organizational structure of the department, as well as strategizing the long-term vision, and 3-to-5 year resourcing vision of the department.My diverse background spans digital media, editorial, agency, and corporate roles, allowing me to craft integrated, content-driven marketing strategies. Among the list of collaborators, some of my favorite brand projects have involved the likes of Bloomberg, Matchesfashion, Converse, Nike, Audi, Levi's, OnePlus, ASICS, Budweiser, and more. This range of partners has allowed me to bring a dynamic, unique perspective to every project.When not working, I spend time with my wife and two children, I enjoy hiking, and indulge my passion for street and landscape photography. I remain active in the art and culture scene through my design and photography practice.

MAEKAN was an editorial media platform focused on arts and culture storytelling through audio and visual multimedia. Launched in 2015 with the support of a Angel Series of funding, MAEKAN.com debuted with a wide range of digital stories and a physical space at the first ever ComplexCon Long Beach event. As a co-founder and Brand Director for MAEKAN, Alex worked closely with his founding partner to design the business plan, brand strategy, creative direction, editorial direction, marketing strategy, and long-term vision planning of the company. MAEKAN lives on today with its online presence serving as a visual pantheon and digital destination for all of the content, storytelling, and creative bodies of work that were cultivated and produced during the core years of 2015 - 2022. -
Global Creative DirectorHypebeast Dec 2013 - Dec 2014GlobalHypebeast, as a formative career environment, elevated Alex to the position of Global Creative Director in 2014 after multiple years working across Marketing, Editorial, e-Commerce, and Social Media during their rapid, high growth period from 2011 to 2015. The first person to hold the role, Alex's position developed out of a need to have creative senior leadership overseeing the varied and diverse business functions and channels. What began as a simple fashion and streetwear blog had scaled to cover a full-fledged media platform, internal ad agency, an editorial division, an online/e-commerce operation, a print publication, an events/activation department, a music platform (the now defunct, HYPETRAK) and a variety of other divisions. All of the above were underpinned by a team of direct reports that Alex was tasked with setting up and managing. Given the speed of the internet business at that time, within his first year in the role, Alex developed an organizational structure, a team design, departmental resourcing model, and a way of working model that still exists today within the now publically-listed company. -
