Thank you for taking the time to get to know me. My name is Alex Mahone and I was born and raised in Charlottesville, Virginia. I joined Mahone Mortgage following six years of experience in the nonprofit sector. After graduating from James Madison University in 2013, and later completing service in both AmeriCorps and the Peace Corps, I joined the International Rescue Committee, where I worked with refugees and other immigrants to help them gain U.S. citizenship and petition to reunite family members from abroad. My nonprofit work started in Northern Virginia, where I served in AmeriCorps through the Arlington Public Schools. Upon completion of that program, I moved to rural Zambia, Africa and served in the Peace Corps for two years as an elementary and middle school teacher. In Zambia, I met my wife, Maria, who was also a Peace Corps Volunteer. We moved to Charlottesville after completing our service in 2018 and had a baby boy, named Benjamin, in April. My goal has always been to better those around me and improve their quality of life, whether it is assisting someone to find a new career opportunity, reuniting a family, becoming a U.S. Citizen, guiding a student to see their potential, or helping a community find the resources to access running water. I am excited to continue on this path by assisting people to finance their homes and fulfill their dreams. I pride myself on providing excellent customer service and having a strong work ethic.
