(I’m the type of person who obsesses over the difference between an em dash and an en dash—yep, I'm that fun at parties!) Whether I’m crafting an intricate musical composition, hiring for a complex orchestral performance, or developing organizational policies that can scale, I do sweat the small stuff. However when it comes time to get something out on a deadline, I know how to see the big picture.Education should inspire joy. I'm passionate about creating learning experiences that promote deep understanding. By integrating the pedagogical principles of Dalcroze eurhythmics into my courses, I engage students through experiential, discovery-based games, fostering a holistic understanding of music.Creating live music in ballet, modern, and tap dance classes is another artistic joy. It requires a unique combination of collaboration, musical sensitivity, and quick reactions to what happens in the moment. I’m not composing music alone—it’s being generated in real time, in collaboration with other artists, for a specific musical and pedagogical goal. Does the teacher need 32 counts of a smooth waltz, with a melodic peak on the 7th bar of each phrase? No problem.When outside of my professional activities, you can find me outside on a run (yes, even during a Pittsburgh winter) or staying inside and taking care of my houseplants. I believe in the power of music to inspire, educate, and unite communities, and I actively seek ways to make this happen.
