With only five people on staff, Chloe's Coffee depends on each and every one of us. It is a growing business that requires all of our input to bring it into it's own. Because there are so few of us, our relationship with customers—and the business in general—is very personal, and a huge part of what it means to work at Chloe's.

The Tulane Review is a professional journal of literature and art published annually by the Tulane Literary Society.

1718: A New Orleans Reading Series1718 is an intercollegiate organization run by students from Tulane University, Loyola University, and the University of New Orleans. The group hosts monthly readings with accomplished writers and poets at the Columns Hotel in Uptown, New Orleans.

I opened the store most days, working with one or two other baristas to prepare the shop for the day. Duties included brewing coffee, setting up sandwich stations and pastry case, preparing espresso and specialty drinks, serving customers, and general café cleaning/maintenance.

I read and critiqued students’ work and led in-class workshops of their writing. I also worked with the teachers to lead students through classroom assignments, and helped run the New Orleans Young Writers Literary Festival.

I was part of a group of students responsible for organizing and advertising literary events on campus. I was part of the team in charge of advertising the events through flyers. Part of the internship included helping run the Tennessee Williams Literary Festival.
