As an Indigenous-Latino filmmaker, my journey in storytelling began with a mission to bridge worlds and voices often left unheard. In 2015, alongside my life partner Noel Miranda, I ventured into the realm of storytelling by co-founding Bravebird®️, a visionary film studio, with the aspiration to create groundbreaking narratives. Our maiden project, “Fantasy In D Minor”, not only marked our foray into the world of film but also set the cornerstone for what Bravebird®️ would represent - a beacon for diverse stories, told with authenticity, integrity, and empathy.Our initial success was more than just a cinematic achievement; it was a testament to our commitment to "creativity for good". This philosophy has guided our projects, illuminating the depth and breadth of diverse experiences with the dignity they deserve. Bravebird's approach is simple yet profound: Film with integrity. Depict dignity. Share empathy.The pandemic, while a global crisis, presented an unprecedented canvas for storytelling. During this time, I directed my first feature film, “Trace the Line”. This visceral exploration of two young artists navigating the tumult of social unrest against the backdrop of COVID-19, has been a profound reflection of the human spirit's resilience and creativity.Currently, Bravebird®️ is intensely focused on amplifying Indigenous voices through film, ensuring that these narratives are portrayed through an authentically Indigenous lens. This commitment has led us down the path of creating films that not only entertain but educate and inspire, reaffirming the power of cinema to ignite change.In the past two years, my dedication has steered toward a pressing global narrative - climate change. Through a feature-length documentary, I am diving into the stories of the woodland peoples, the Indigenous communities of the Midwest. This project is more than a film; it's a journey into the heart of our relationship with the earth, told through the voices of those closest to the land.Through Bravebird®️, Noel and I have crafted a platform where creativity meets purpose, stories meet their truth, and filmmaking becomes a conduit for change. As we continue to write, produce, and direct, our aim is not just to create content but to spark conversations, challenge perceptions, and build bridges towards a more understanding and empathetic world.
