I have thoroughly enjoyed volunteering and leading a team of four this year. It was an easy decision to apply for Spark as I was naturally interested in the innovation space. It is common knowledge that if you find a role that is your passion it won't feel like work. However as a team lead, you take on tasks that are not closely aligned to innovation. At first this was challenging, but to move forward I needed to wear different "hats". Outside of Spark I have managed to find time to pursue my interests in innovation, currently focusing on the education sector. I have also learn't, that if possible you must ensure you have the best person for the job. An example of this would be the drafting of sponsorship proposals. Two of the members in the External Relations team had a background in Law> They were more efficiently able to articulate the relevant points in the written form. I could share my institutional knowledge and we did share the proposals equally so the best result was achieved. Show less
