I'm excited to move into the newly created position of Professional in Residence in the UVU Digital Media Department. This will allow me to concentrate even more on teaching and developing the new training programs in writing for digital media and story editing while also continuing my involvement in the professional of world of media production and screenwriting.

The purpose of the Frank Daniel Center for Media and Storytelling is to preserve, promulgate and build upon the work of the late František “Frank” Daniel. His work, which has come to be called “Daniel Methodology” is a systematic approach to applying classic dramatic principles to telling stories through technology, most commonly but not exclusively in feature films. Frank Daniel is arguably the greatest film educator ever. He was founding Dean of the Czech Film Academy, founding Dean of the American Film Institute, co-creator (with Milos Foreman) of the graduate screenwriting program at Columbia University, founding Artistic Director of the Sundance Institute, and Dean of the University of Southern California School of Cinematic Arts. Frank Daniel conceived his approach in the 1950s and 60s and taught it up to his death in 1996. It influenced many prominent filmmakers who studied under him, such as Milos Forman and David Lynch. It is recognized by film experts throughout the world as being a valuable part of the cinematic storytelling tradition; however, because it is primarily an oral tradition, there are few remaining teachers now continuing the tradition of Daniel Methodology. The Frank Daniel Center, incorporated August, 2018 by Frank's son Martin Daniel and Alex Nibley, seeks to ensure that his valuable legacy is not lost.
