Arista has led Project Forward, a disruptive joint development project to combat ship emissions at a global level. Project Forward was conceived in 2013 and announced in 2016 at the Posidonia Shipping Convention in Athens. The company has a fleet of 8 bulk carriers of various sizes, with ages between 5-15 years. Alexander Panagopulos resigned from Magna Marine to form Arista Shipping S.A. in 2007

Blue Star Ferries was created in 1999 after Attica Group acquired Strintzis Lines, a competitor of Superfast Ferries in the Adriatic Sea and a small operator of ferries in the Ionian and Aegean Sea. As CEO of Attica, Alexander P. Panagopulos successfully reorganized, rebranded and repositioned the company into Blue Star Ferries and introduced five newbuildings and lead its expansion. The company built its ships at Van der Giessen de Nord in Holland, and DSME in Korea.

Superfast Ferries is a Greece-based ferry company founded in 1993 by Pericles Panagopulos and Alexander Panagopulos. Superfast Ferries is a member of Attica Group. At its peak in 2001, Superfast operated 12 ferries between Greece-Italy, Finland-Germany, Sweden-Germany and Scotland-Belgium, transporting five million passengers and about a million vehicles yearly. Operations were driven from its headquarters in Athens and its offices in Travemuende, Germany, Helsinki, Finland, Stockholm, Sweden and Rosyth, Scotland. The company built its ships at three shipyards in Germany,Schichau-Seebeck Werft, Howaldtswerke Deutsche Werft, and at Flender Werft, and one shipyard in Finland, Kvaerner-Masa Yards in Turku.

This is the company that my father, Pericles Panagopulos, founded in 1972 in partnership with Barney Ebsworth of Intrav Tours. The company´s first ship was the 450-passenger Golden Odyssey, was built in Helsingor, Denmark and delivered in 1974. Royal Cruise Line was the first company to sell "air-sea packages" combining air transportation and a cruise. The Golden Odyssey was in fact the first cruise ship to be designed to accommodate 450 passengers, the same number as Boeing's 747 Jumbo Jet. Its clientele originated primarily in California, with 99% of its passengers coming from Los Angeles, San Francisco and San Diego. The company also maintained its sales and marketing organization in San Francisco while its headquarters were in Piraeus, Greece. Royal Cruise Line expanded with the 850-passenger Royal Odyssey in 1982 and the 1,200-passenger Crown Odyssey in 1988 before being acquired by Kloster Cruises in 1989. The brand expanded to absorb the operations of Royal Viking Line and Seabourn Cruise Line before getting dissolved in 1995. I was very proud to be among the elite group that participated in the design and supervision of the construction of the M/S Crown Odyssey in Meyer Werft, in Papenburg, Germany, where I lived for a year and a half between 1986 and 1988.
