Mr. Duran was a Senior Environmental Engineer with JM Sorge, Inc. He managed projects in the areas of site assessment and remediation for solid and hazardous waste and petroleum product releases. One successful project was the indoor air quality remediation of a building formerly used as a factory for the manufacture of mothballs and currently used as a child care center. Modeled the fate and transport of contaminants using SEVIEW modeling software.• Developed effective compliance methods to address the contaminants (heavy metals, PAH compounds, VOCs, SVOCs and dioxins) detected in organic residuals.• Increased management options by demonstrating that wood ash could be used as lime substitute to chemically pasteurize Class B wastewater biosolids. • Satisfied regulatory agency concern over nitrate leaching by documenting the dynamics of organic N mineralization and plant nitrogen uptake for a heat dried biosolids fertilizer.
