Project Manager
Project Architect
As a part of the healthcare design studio, I helped design healthcare facilities in the New Orleans metro area. These projects ranged in size and complexity from single-room code upgrades to entire building additions. While at STBA I performed a number of roles on projects including drafting, specification writing, bid coordination, and construction administration. I developed a talent for code research (NFPA, IBC, ADA, and FGI) and hardware, coordinating these elements on several projects which I was not otherwise involved.I also supported the firm in coordinating Information Technology with our IT consultant. During the COVID-19 crisis, I orchestrated processes for remote work via Microsoft 365 software including Teams and Planner and digitized several analog processes.All-in-all I took a wholistic, systems approach to projects. Looking at the interconnectivity of all aspects of a project allowed for efficient and through records and streamlined processes and allowed me to increase efficiency and production.
Project Coordinator
Design Services ushered renovation and new construction projects through the design phases, either internally or with a hired consultant, and assists with design issues throughout construction. As project coordinator on larger projects with hired consultants, I served as owner's representative for projects. Once a project was approved, we drafted the RFP, design contract, project budget and project schedule for review by the department and administration. During design, my responsibilities were similar to that of air traffic controller: coordinate all of the people and groups involved in the project to keep it moving forward. This frequently involved setting up meetings, both regular and issue specific, reviewing drawing submissions, updating project budgets and coordinating peripheral issues (e.g. LEED submissions, moves necessitated by the project renovation). Finally, during construction, I provided a design perspective representing the owner in Owner-Architect-Contractor construction meetings and met on site to help resolve any design issues that arose during construction. On smaller projects, I performed much of the same tasks but drafted the drawings themselves instead of reviewing the drawings of an outside consultant. This process was typically reserved for projects that involve only finish upgrades or small office renovations.Additionally, I helped to manage the filing systems for the office and helped update and maintain the Capital Projects website tulane.edu/capital-projects.
Intern
I have a variety of responsibilities and tasks at the Office of the University Architect (OUA) including but not limited to site documentation, diagramming, graphic design, drawing editing etc.As the OUA is the interface between the university, architectural and design firms, and contractors I am able to interact with nearly every aspect of the building process from schematic design to building construction.
Design Intern
Hired as an Intern through the UIC School of Architecture Co-op. At Sacred Space International I researched the demographics of 11 U.S. cities as support information for a series of tour templates of various sacred spaces for the corresponding PBS stations. In addition I assisted in creating the graphic presentations used to update PBS on the firm's work. On the side I helped create a new season of pamphlets for distribution in the area for the various local tours of sacred spaces conducted in Chicago.
