Hi, I’m Alex. I’m a freelance reporter based in Detroit covering local government, education, and urban history. I am passionate about using news to fill information gaps and provide a platform for people to share their experiences. I especially have a special interest in digging through archives to tell stories of Metro-Detroit’s history. I'm also an urban studies and public history student at Wayne State University, and will graduate in May 2025. I am a member of Investigative Reporters and Editors and the Education Writers Association.My articles have appeared in Chalkbeat, Outlier Media, Bridge Detroit, and The South End, Wayne State University’s student daily. I have spoken about my history research on Michigan Public's Stateside radio show, and appeared in a documentary about my work with Detroit Documenters.
