I approach technology as an form of art, where a good solution should not only get the job done, but also do so in an elegant manner. In my view, there is no one universally right solution, rather there are several correct solutions for a given situation.My background is in live entertainment, where I have done everything from sound engineering for avant-garde rock bands to being the master electrician on large scale musicals. I went to Illinois State University for a BS in Theatre, moved to NYC when I graduated, and then found my way back to my hometown of Chicago.My professional experience as a programmer and in IT come from my time with Phytest, Inc, an Atlanta based company that provides medical billing and laboratory management services to its customers. I started off working helpdesk, but soon found myself getting more involved in software development, where I worked with a team to realize several internal and external applications. My personal interests lie in the cumulation (which Firefox's spell check seems to think is not a word?) of technology into the physical world as well as green, sustainable technology. Having code running on a computer is cool and everything, but having code that interacts with things that can be touched, felt, etc brings it to another level for me. And yes, I do have a stack of Arduino and similar development boards! Outside of technology I'm an avid tomato grower, and dream of owning a house on a couple of acres, where I can expend and grown even more tomatoes! I enjoy a good hike in the mountains, nature / wildlife photography (still learning!) and recently I have taken up fishing.
