As the Director of Technology, I lead three dynamic teams: a Ruby on Rails full-stack and backend services team, a React Native mobile team, and an AWS infrastructure team. My role involves making critical technical decisions, shaping our strategic roadmap, and defining the technical architecture to ensure seamless development and deployment across all platforms. I focus on aligning technology strategy with business objectives, fostering collaboration, and driving innovation within our teams.

I developed web-based text, image, audio, and video annotation tools, as well as related workflow and community management tools. I worked on data collection, processing, and annotation pipelines.

My primary responsibilities included updating and maintenance of our internal Ruby on Rails application, WebAnn, which contains many linguistic annotation and management tools for use by others in the company.- Worked on projects to collect, convert, annotate, translate, and release language data, including LORELEI, DEFT, CACE, and GRID.- Developed new functionality for our Ruby on Rails applications, used for annotation, workflow management, and various other tasks.- Improved existing functionality, added significant testing suite, and fixed a large number of bugs.- Worked extensively on our “namespace” editor, a javascript-heavy tool which allows project managers to create web-based annotation tools.- Wrote many libraries and scripts for processing linguistic data, database management, reporting, and workflow management.

During this time I added a large testing suite, upgraded our primary Rails application from version 3 to 4, and provided maintenance as needed. I also configured our web scraping application and collected ~100 million words of data.
