As the Labour Relations Specialist, I work with the Director of Employee Experience to formulate an overall labour relations strategy and a bargaining strategy for collective agreement negotiations with PWU and SUP. I’ve overseen process improvements and policy changes in how we retain information, track our LR performance, maintain our job databases, and contract out work in the union jurisdiction.● Effectively handle labour relations initiatives and administers contracts and collective agreements.● Oversee the dispute resolution and grievance process for the organization. ● Participated and successfully negotiated three collective agreements.● Build and maintains positive relationships with unions, fostering a productive work environment.● Partnered with organizational leaders to develop, implement, and refine workforce planning, HR programs, and processes. ● Provide advice, guidance, and consultation on best practices to clients based on interpreting policies and procedures, employment law, and Collective Agreements.

Lead the talent management and development strategy for internal and external roles. I developed proactive recruitment strategies during the COVID-19 pandemic that focused on modernizing the talent acquisition function and used data and analytics to guide decision-making. Lead the Job Evaluation process, Purchased Services process, Talent Acquisition process, and Onboarding processes.

Prepped and led four weekly seminars with groups of 20-25 students. Conduct exercises and education for various human resources topics such as planning, recruitment, and selection of staff, training and development, and compensation, human resources strategy, relevant legislation, and future trends. Effectively communicated course content, answered questions about the field, and supported productive group discussions. Improved student participation through the seminar by encouraging them to build on lecture theory and enhance their communication and collaboration skills. Support students with questions regarding assignments and course content.Grade and invigilate exams and assignments.

As the Human Resources Manager I was responsible for overseeing the entire Human Resources and Health and Safety functions within a small municipality. Further, I was a trusted advisor to all levels of management and provided timely, actionable advice and guidance.I was responsible for the complete needs analysis, recruitment, screening, selection and orientation process of both professional and non-professional positions. In this capacity I hired nearly 300 individuals and conducted hundreds more interviews. I also processed off-boarding, processing terminations and leaves and conducting exit interviews.In my time at the Municipality, I developed the entirety of the Health and Safety, Violence and Harassment, and Accessibility programs. I also planned, implemented and evaluated many other human resources and health and safety policies and practices that benefited both the corporation as well as improving the employee experience.

As fireranger I was part of a team of forest fire suppression professionals who would safely and effectively travel to remote locations to suppress dangerous wildfires which had the potential to impact human activity in the area. As I became more experienced with the job I moved up to the position of "crew boss" responsible for the training of my crew as well as directing their suppression activities and ensuring their safety.
