Alex Steele is the Founder and Director of Improwise, an organisational development practice working in areas of leadership, organisational change, psychology, sustainability and innovation. Alex is an organisational development consultant, academic and coach by day, and a professional jazz pianist by night. He is a visiting professor, associate, partner and contributor with a range of international business schools and organisational development practices around the world. Alex has a parallel career as a professional jazz pianist, and he uses his insights into improvisational mindsets and behaviours as part of the design and delivery of experiential learning programmes for leadership and organisational change. Alex’s background and expertise includes practice and research in organisational development, behavioural change, systems thinking, sustainability, psychology, solutions focused coaching, and improvisation. He works with individuals and teams, exploring new ways of stimulating curiosity, innovation, collaboration and experimentation. Alongside his work with organisations, Alex is also involved in international development, working with small community organisations and NGOs in the Global South.
