I am a student at the University of Missouri majoring in Information Technology with a minor in Computer Science. I am quite proficient in a variety of computer languages including C, CSS, HTML, Java, JavaScript, MySQL, PHP, and a few others. This list will only continue to expand as I am persistently self teaching myself new languages to broaden my skill set so I can take on new challenges that I encounter in the computer world. Alongside these languages, I have a strong understanding of maintaining servers and deploying websites. I am very proficient in most operating systems because I use both Linux and Windows systems on a daily basis and I have a firm understanding of Mac OS. Some of the programs that I am strong with include Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Photoshop, Eclipse, and a variety of text editors. I also know my way around many other development related tools and utilities.I began studying Computer Engineering for 3 years at Mizzou but decided to switch to IT because I found the programming aspects of computers more interesting. This allowed me to take classes outside the IT and Computer Science curriculum including Circuit Theory, Intro to Logic Systems, and Microprocessor Engineering. These classes allowed me to expand upon my IT degree and use the additional credits toward a CS Minor. With this major and minor, I've been interested in databases, server management, web design, and program development but I am open to almost any type of career within the computer realm. I currently work as a Part Time Software Developer at Shelter Insurance where I work primarily with Java and JavaScript. This job has also helped me to become more efficient with Git and has taught me how to implement unit testing with JUnit and JavaScript unit tests. I have learned how to efficiently and effectively debug code and implement new features to existing programs. We develop in an Agile work environment where we use a Kanban board to keep track of work flow.
