In an effort to assist the Northwest Territories fledgling 9-1-1 program during the GNWT's Covid Response, myself and several other volunteers were chosen to train and become 9-1-1 Emerency Dispatchers. In this role I worked full-tim as an emergency dispatcher from April 2020-August 2020. I currently assist part-time as an Emergency dispatcher for all 33 communities of the Northwest Territories. I work closely with the current full-time dispatchers to learn about the needs and current emergency protocols in each community so that I can assist NWT residents in need. I also became certified as an Emergency Fire Dispatcher and Emergency Medical Dispatcher through the International Academy of Emergency Dispatch.

In this role I co-managed 3 groups of 5 airport screeners each. Our job was to track all passengers coming into the Northwest Territories through the Yellowknife Airport from out of Territory. Incoming passengers were instructed on current Territorial self-isolation and federal quarantine regulations, they were tracked through a pre-approved Self-Isolation Plan (SIP), and were assisted to an isolation centre if needed. I assisted in training incoming screeners, and acted as a liason between the screeners and ProtectNWT when necessary to troubleshoot.
