Through a combination of chemical, physical, and environmental sciences, the objective of my middle school science curriculum revolves around the importance of understanding and navigating climate change. Through researching local, regional, and global issues, we brainstorm and devise potential solutions for a changing climate. One goal of my curriculum is to encourage students to feel comfortable in the outdoors, thus establishing a sense of belonging, care, awe, and eventually a desire to preserve our outdoor spaces. It is important that I gain the student's trust and respect. I have high expectations for my students, and they should have expectations of me as their teacher and educator. By connecting with my students, I can learn their passions, allowing them to pursue their own interests within the sciences, and ultimately allowing them control over the path they take. Students are regularly given challenges to work towards open-ended solutions, allowing them to carve their own path and navigate the research towards the 'right' answer. I believe that middle school can be fun, and science classes do not have to be intimidating. In the end, I aim to learn just as much through my students and our open learning environment as they can from me.

Completed six-month long research on student mentorship in the middle school entitled "Establishing a Peer Mentorship Program in the Middle School" through Berwick Academy and Lesley University's requirements for Master's degree in education. Research was presented to a group of thirty members of Berwick Academy, and portions of the research will be reenacted in the middle school this upcoming school year. 7th Grade Social Studies Co-Teacher and Advisor, Winter-Spring 2018● Assisted with Global Ex, a semester long interdisciplinary exploration of Middle Eastern countries and cultures● Designed mini unit based on cultures of select Middle Eastern participants in Winter Olympics 2018● Led a mini unit in May 2018 about Central and South American countries and their unique traditions8th Grade English Co-Teacher and Advisor, Fall 2017● Collaborated with mentor teacher for short and long range curriculum planning and individual student development ● Designed a four-week long unit on critical reviews, modeling writing structures for reviews of movies and restaurants● Created week long unit on writing and delivering persuasive speeches to improve public speaking confidence● Encouraged student­-centered learning through projects in reading, writing and research to promote student self­-efficacy● Developed grammar unit exam and utilized as culiminating assessment opportunity of understanding● Established positive classroom environment by experimenting with varied teaching and seating strategies

•Responsible for managing the Sandy Bay Yacht Club junior sailing program, including 130 sailors ages 8-18, and delegating duties to 5 full-time staff members and 3 part-time employees. Program Director position requires clear communication with all coaches and club manager, supervision of all sailing classes and staff, and coordination for sailing regattas. •In charge of hiring staff and scheduling events and races, promoting and advertising the sailing program, and managing a $92,500 budget for a non-profit 501c3 organization.•Organized and hosted a 65 boat Optimist sailing regatta, including promotion and advertisement of event, communication with all local sailing programs, coordinated adequate staffing and volunteer help, selected an experienced race committee, arranged for food and drinks for all sailors and coaches, and ran awards ceremony.•Program Director position requires methodical planning and enthusiastic interaction with sailors, parents and staff on a daily basis.•Coached Optimist race team in conjunction with directing the sailing program in 2014. The 10 member Optimist race team traveled throughout Massachusetts to compete during the 2014 summer. •Currently creating schedule and appropriate curriculum for a spring sailing program starting April 2015. •Program Director position requires communication with club manager and club commodore throughout the off-season to plan for next summer's program, including advertising of available positions and hiring, scheduling, program advertising, and budgeting.

•As Race Coach, responsible for implementing and developing program curriculum, developing and carrying out daily lesson plans, completing individual sailor evaluations including recommendations for next session classes, and frequent interaction with parents. •Head Instructor duties include providing feedback to junior sailing coaches to improve teaching techniques and creating effective lessons. Leader of a team of six instructors and coaches, responsible for creating a fun and safe learning environment for sailors ages 8–18, as well as adults aged 35-75. Responsible for club equipment and club powerboats at away regattas. •Assistant Program Director position requires communication with other coaches and club manager, supervision of all sailing classes and staff, and coordination for sailing regattas. Responsible for managing the Sandy Bay Yacht Club junior sailing program in absence of the Program Director. I also have my Level I and Level II US Sailing Coaching Certification, and am CPR and First Aid Certified.

•Green Team Representative requires monitoring water usage and weekly trash and recycling output. Energy consumption and CO2 output is also monitored as part of Alta’s goal to decrease the mountain’s overall carbon footprint. As Green Team Representative, co-organized 2013 Alta Earth Day by communicating with local eco-friendly ski vendors, as well as Alta Ski Area’s Environmental Council and Alta Community Enrichment.•Daily tasks include preparation for five hundred guests at Alta Ski Area’s top restaurant, requiring teamwork of all Watson Shelter employees. As a returning employee of Watson Shelter, responsible for helping new employees learn how to efficiently prepare and serve food for guests. •Nightly tasks include loading and driving a PistenBully Snowcat with fresh food and supplies. All supplies are inventoried, dated, stocked and rotated in Watson Shelter’s storage. All snowcat routes are coordinated via radio with Alta Ski Area’s grooming crew and ski patrol to ensure safety of equipment and skiers. All work is completed independently.

Winning Rookie of the Year Club in 2008, the University of Vermont Freestyle Ski Team is a student run club that travels and competes nationally. My overall responsibilities as president included: Conducting weekly officer’s and team meetings, submitting budgets to UVM and working within budgetary constraints, organizing events, organizing transportation to and from Stowe Mountain Resort each weekday, organizing transportation and lodging at national skiing events. Prior to graduating, I helped find and hire an experienced coach for the Freestyle Ski Team.

As an intern with CleanTech Homes, I helped design and create LEED documentation booklet for their Platinum certification. I also collected residential energy usage data to show Cleantech Home’s efficiency.
