As Post-Secondary Exploration Department Head, I collaborate with Fusion Leadership in project management and rollout, event planning and hosting, counselor and teacher support, and promotion of virtual services. I also work with families, students, and campuses in navigating the college selection and application process, as well as our systems and learning tools.

As Lead Post-Secondary Counselor, I guided our students and families through college and career planning while raising awareness of our college and post-secondary counseling services. This was a hybrid role where I also continued to teach English and History courses on occasion. I’m proud to have had the opportunity to teach while also helping our students fulfill their academic and career ambitions.

I taught History, Government, Economics and English at Fusion Academy, an alternative high school that focuses on meeting the needs of students who have difficulty in traditional educational settings. At Fusion we personalize and customize teaching methods and curriculum. Due to our diverse student population and their individualized needs, I have become an expert at employing differentiated teaching strategies in the classroom, as well as providing guidance for students with LDs, behavioral challenges, neurodivergence, and those diagnosed with depression and anxiety. During this role, I was able to continue my passion of helping soon-to-be adults, of all walks of life, find success both in and out of the classroom.

As a Substitute Teacher for Escondido Union High School District, I had the opportunity to teach a large variety of classes. Most of my time was spent teaching in Special Education, where I gained familiarity with IEPs, 504s, and various modifications/accommodations. I taught as a long-term substitute on several occasions - for both Escondido High School and San Pasqual High School. As a long-term substitute I taught CAHSEE and AVID, Read 180 and Special Education, and English 9-10. My time working as a fulltime teacher in these areas helped me grow as a professional and gain hands-on experience creating lesson plans, grading assignments, submitting report cards, holding parent-teacher conferences and mastering classroom management strategies.

For two years I worked part-time as a transcriptionist. My job responsibilities included completing files through transcribing and editing recorded reports. My experience in the field has primarily been working for large consumer companies specializing in surveys and focus groups for market research. Clients ranged from all over the consumer market – everything from entertainment, to automotive, to the tech industry.

Costanoa Continuation High School in Santa Cruz, CA was where I first developed my foundational teaching skills. In this position I tutored a wide range of students - such as students with learning disabilities or behavioral issues (drug and alcohol abuse), students who had failed the high school exit exam, past drop-outs, and non-English speaking students. At Costanoa, I helped students complete class work, reviewed and graded course assignments, and helped out with general classroom tasks.
