Let's Go Fishing; a company I started up and ran, which was dedicated to providing young people of Shropshire with the opportunity to go fishing. One-to-one and group fishing sessions, tailored to suit experience, lead by fully qualified and accredited angling coaches.A project that is paused for now, but one I look forward to resurrecting in the future.This was a very enjoyable few years, resulting in the delivery of hundreds of successful sessions. I gained new skills, coaching qualifications, along with forging close links with local angling clubs, youth groups and police forces. I achieved numerous successes, with the most notable being shortlisted in the top five for the Business Providing Activities for Young People Award and the New Business Award at the Shropshire Businesses for Children Awards in 2015.Sessions were enjoyable and fun, with the possible outcomes of being involved in fishing programmes being much more than just catching fish:• Exposer to the environment and outdoors• Personal and social development opportunities• Improving confidence, self-esteem and resilience• Raising attainment in education and employment• Diverting young people from crime and antisocial behaviour• Keeping young people motivated and engaged in school• Raising aspirations and progression to further education, employment or training• Intervening early with those at risk of disengagement• Improving wellbeing and social integration in schools
