Alex has recently finished studying Marketing Communications at the British Columbia Institute of Technology. She is also currently the official spokesperson for the Wigs for Kids BC organization and has been for the past 7 years. At BCIT, Alex has excelled and developed many skills that can be directly applied to the marketing industry. She has taken initiative by adopting a leadership role in group work, planned and executed successful integrated marketing campaigns, and learned how to manage her time efficiently and effectively. Alex was awarded the BCIT Major Entrance scholarship in 2017 as well as the Karen Insley Memorial Award in 2018 for academic excellence. Alex has worked in a Marketing Events & Data Analysis role at i-onCONNECT Technologies as an intern and was promoted shortly after to Social Media Coordinator. She created, managed, and executed the company's social media calendar and written content. She also co-wrote the monthly newsletters, co-hosted events, and grew the company's membership and client database. She enjoyed working as a team as well as taking on important, new tasks. Alex has a passion for working with others and understanding human behaviour, which is what led her to study Sociology at the University of British Columbia. Here she perfected her writing, research, and critical thinking skills. She was awarded the UBC Major Entrance Award in 2011 and achieved honour roll every year. Alex has a passion for helping others and has gained many skills from her years of volunteering and fundraising such as public speaking, campaign building, marketing, and event planning. Her biggest accomplishment was creating a campaign and raising over $26,000 for the Balding for Dollars organization, and strives to one day make a difference of that caliber again. Alex also has a passion for cooking and in her spare time likes to experiment with ingredients. She also likes to stay active by running regularly and weightlifting.
