    Contribute to the delivery of the Reserve Team’s programme of practical conservation tasks carried out on Wildlife Trust Nature Reserves. This work contributes to the preservation of the most valuable habitats in the country.Lead volunteer work parties, talk through the risk assessment for the specific task (i.e. coppicing), ride widening, grass cutting, bramble management and wetland management.Transport volunteers to the reserves safely and ensure all equipment is loaded and transported to the location.Provide suitable refreshments for the volunteers, tea, coffee and biscuits.Ensure the first aid kit is stocked and transported with the volunteers and available for use. Ensure the site emergency form is available for use and relevant for location and up to date.Follow the correct health and safety procedures when conducting any practical tasks or using tools and equipment.Apply any first aid if required and fill out the necessary paperwork in accordance with the Wildlife Trust BCN policy and procedures. Safely use brush cutter, Auto-scythe and chainsaw for habitat management tasks. Carry out reserve structures assessments using the Wildlife Trust BCN Protocol and write up reports accordingly.NB: This position is a voluntary position with the aim to gain experience in the practical skills involved with the management of nature reserves, including: hand-tool use; machinery use (e.g. chainsaw, brush cutter, auto scythe), various habitat management techniques e.g. Coppicing; biological monitoring; fencing; working with livestock; access infrastructure maintenance; leading volunteer work parties; with some involvement with the administrative aspects too.
