As a Social Value Coordinator at Esh Group, I am responsible for bid writing at tender stage to secure projects in the region, as well as the delivery of committed social value on won schemes. Social value includes such a wide range of activities, requiring adaptability, confidence and incredible time management on a daily basis. I have developed curriculum-based programmes to be delivered in secondary schools, work experience programmes open to ages 14-16, delivered STEM sessions to early years and KS1, as well as client meetings to engage stakeholders, and so much more. From donating time and money to local causes such as community gardens and foodbanks, to monitoring carbon commitments, my role is to increase the positive impact Esh has in the area we are working in. A key element of the role is to analyse Local Employment and Local Procurement data, to provide reports within the client spec. I am lead in the recruitment and support of all T-Level and work experience placements throughout the company, making me the direct contact for all colleges and general enquiries. This responsibility requires me to build and maintain relationships with a large network of external agencies, as well as internal relationships across multiple departments to ensure opportunities are presented to students. It is hard to truly capture the vastness of this role in a short paragraph, but I can positively say that this role has allowed me to develop my skills and experience both personally and professionally.

My role at Humankind was Community Development Worker, much like my role at Changing Lives prior to TUPE. As such, my role was to again liaise with community assets and resources to build relationships and implement new resources for clients in the community. I facilitated groups, acquiring my SMART trainer qualification, as well as my mental health awareness certificate, my mental health first aid training and a vast range of other skills and qualifications. I was also responsible for the recruitment and management of a team of lived-experience volunteers, supporting previous clients to gain work experience in the field, utilising their own experience to help others. This tasked me with the responsibility of ensuring that these individuals maintained their own wellbeing with my support, to then execute positive emotional support to clients in active addiction. I was also Equality, Diversity and Inclusion (EDI) lead, increasing accessibility, advocating for minorities and promoting EDI events internally and externally to raise awareness to a variety of topics. Additionally, I was also Social Media Manager, sourcing and creating content to maximise engagement amongst clients, links to external services and promote healthy choices.

Subject to TUPE, my original role was at Changing Lives as Community Development Worker, which tasked me with the liaison of community assets and resources to build relationships and implement new resources for clients in the community. I developed and delivered a range of programmed to clients, with key focus around building support networks, wellness action plans and increasing access to resources. Facilitating health and wellbeing groups, as well as sessions around employment skills were a key area of my role with Changing Lives, as was the delivery of training to colleagues to support asset mapping and organisational outreach and engagement. At Recovery Connections, I still had the responsibility of asset mapping and building a network of local resources for clients, but my main area was to deliver psycho-social interventions to clients to illicit positive changes and self-reflection. I underwent training in interventions, coaching, cognitive behavioural therapy and a range of other skills to best equip myself with the task of supporting individuals through substance use and mental health issues.

At Preferred Management, my role as Customer Service Executive was to build and maintain relationships with partnership companies to ensure the highest level of knowledge and understanding, to then relay this to customers. Working in boiler and home insurance, I was often dealing with very stressed and anxious customers, so it was vital I was empathetic, understanding and supportive throughout the claim process. I consistently ensured customer service was delivered to the highest quality, and that organisational and personal targets were met. I was responsible for communicating with colleagues, insurance companies, engineers and customers, so adaptability in communication skills was crucial to ensure each interaction was appropriate for the audience. I trained new starters on numerous software and policies, managed queries, concerns and complaints to ensure customer satisfaction and future engagement, and utilised great organisational skills to ensure reports were clear and accurate.
