About Aley Kent

My work is rooted in a belief that building power and resources at the local level is key to creating a more just and sustainable world. Throughout my career I have guided community-led strategies that promote health and social equity, pulling together a broad spectrum of voices and helping people turn abstract ideas into effective initiatives. I use participatory methods to foster integrated and collaborative approaches to planning efforts while ensuring that those most affected by structural inequities are the ones to articulate their own needs, assets, and ideas for regenerating their communities. In my experience with large and small NGOs on both sides of the philanthropic equation, I have gained a wealth of insights into how programs and organizations struggle and thrive, and have deepened my practice in organizational development, network creation, program planning and evaluation, and facilitative leadership. I try to stretch myself, draw connections and build my toolbox with each new project I dive into, challenging white supremacist systems and shifting away from top-down, extractive programs to ones that are participatory and power sharing.
