Alfonso is a corporate and financial lawyer with more than 19 years of experience in mergers and acquisitions, capital markets and financial restructurings.Together with Fernando del Castillo, Alfonso founded del Castillo y Castro Abogados in December 2018. Before that, he worked at Santamarina y Steta since 1999 and became a partner in 2012. He also worked as an international lawyer with Cleary Gottlieb Steen & Hamilton LLP in New York. Currently he is also a commercial law professor at the Centro de Investigación y Docencia Económicas A.C. (CIDE). He participates in the corporate governance committees of Banco Invex, La Comer, Corporación GEO among others, and has been a board member of other companies and member of the disciplinary committee of the Mexican Stock Exchange.He is a lawyer from the Universidad Anáhuac with postgraduate studies in Finance from the Universidad Iberoamericana, an LL.M. from Northwestern University School of Law, a certificate in Business Administration from The Kellogg School of Management and a degree in management (AD) from the Instituto Panamericano de Alta Dirección de Empresa (IPADE).
